The Cape Cod Rail Trail is on a 22mile span of refurbished railroad right-of-way. It passes through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. The tracks and station houses were removed in the 1960's. Extensions to the Rail Trail have been added that take the bike path to Provincetown on the tip of Cape Cod. Visit the Massachusetts' Department of Conservation & Recreation to read about the Cape Cod Rail Trail Bike Path. Province Lands Bike Trail is found at the end of the cape adjacent to Provincetown. The Provincetown Bicycle Committee has put together an excellent map of the trails and Provincetown found here.
For a short, straight and unique ride, consider a ride along the Cape Cod Canal. This is an often overlooked ride. The Cape Cod Canal Bike Path is approximately 6.5 miles on each side of the Canal that separates Cape Cod from the rest of Massachusetts. It offers an unique place to ride and view the waterway, and the hectic bridge traffic overhead. Read about the paved canal path here on the Mass DOT site.
Falmouth Shining Sea Bike Path
Friends of Falmouth Bikeways publishes a great map and guide of the Shining Sea Bikeway and it covers the path from North Falmouth to Woods Hole.

Nickerson State park in Brewster through which the Rail Trail travels. Nickerson's 1900 acres offers more than 400 campsites, including yurt camping, an amphitheater, eight miles of roads, hiking trails, an eight mile bike path that connects to the 22 mile Cape Cod Rail Trail, and ponds stocked year-round with trout.
Provincetown Bicycling: At the end of Route 6 in Provincetown, you will find the beautiful Province Lands Bike Trail. This is a 5.45 mile loop 1.1 mile spur to Herring Cove, 0.5 mile spur to Race Point Beach, 0.25 mile spur to Bennett Pond.
There are multiple access points to the Province Lands Bicycle Trail (some require seasonal fees):

- Beech Forest Parking Lot
As described by the National Park Service, the Province Lands Bike Trail loos around the Province Lands, passing through pine forests, sandy dunes, and low-lying cranberry bogs. There are connections to both Herring Cove* and Race Point beaches, as well as Bennett Pond. * as of late August 2018 the connection from Herring Cove parking lot is closed as it was washed out by stormy weather. This can be challeninging and is at the Advanced-Intermediate level due to few steep hills, sharp turns, tunnels. Please be careful for patches of sand on the paved trail.
Dana-Farber Cancer Research Insititute's Pan-Massachusetts Challenge is August 1 and August 2 this year. This ride will once again raise money for cancer research by passionate riders raising money for their ride Cape Cod. A variety of routes exist and some will ride the full two days for 188 miles!
